I was commissioned by Hartismere School in Suffolk to illustrate a set of twenty sports activity cards, covering a range of different games.

 

The purpose of the cards is to show students how each game is played, so I followed the text instructions carefully to make sure my illustrations captured the rules and main goals of each game.

 

These cards allowed me to experiment with composition and the poses of the characters, and to challenge myself to illustrate the movement and actions of characters engaged in the games. 

 

One of the main goals set for this brief was to make sure the characters were diverse and represented a wide variety of races, abilities, and genders, with the hope that students at the school would be able to relate to the illustrations.
